It’s been a while since we posted on this blog and you may be forgiven for thinking that nothing much has therefore happened at Press Mains in recent months. But nothing could be further from the truth!

In Castle Cottage we have had a doorway created directly from the sitting room to the garden. This not only provides easy access to the patio with garden furniture and the large area of grass, but it also brings more light into the sitting room. This is in addition to some general upgrading of furniture to ensure that we provide a real home-from-home experience. Sadly it has so far been a pretty miserable summer but we are ever hopeful that things will improve so that visitors can make the most of their individual, private dog proof gardens.

We have also been working hard to complete our green energy project and are delighted to say that all cottages have been completely converted to farm-produced electrical power. This is from a combination of solar panels on the grain store roof and a small wind turbine, with the supply augmented by the mains supply so there will never be a shortage.

Ever-conscious that a lot of our visitors bring their four-legged friends with them, we have created even more permanent grass field margins so it is possible to walk on these pathways all around the farm. The only thing we ask is that dogs are not walked in fields with stock.

The final change our returning visitors will notice is that the main drive to the farm has been completely relaid.

We are always looking to enhance the experience of our visitors and every year we continue to make changes. But we never lose sight of why people come and stay at Press Mains. It’s a beautiful valley with a working farm at its heart and we want to share the peace and quiet, the views and the location and all the little details that make a holiday here so enjoyable.
